Is Factual Education Enough ?
On the basis of my experience and the lessons given by my teachers I feel that in order to become a complete human being we need to have three basic educations : 1. Intellectual Education, 2. Emotional Education and 3.Spiritual Education.We can understand ourselves as well as the world around us if we receive these three .
1. INTELLECTUAL EDUCATION: Yes, in order to survive in this competitive world we do need factual education which generally includes courses of science, literature, and many others. In order to live a respectable life and also a successful life we do need to be educated intellectually. Without intellectual education we will never be able to understand how our world as well our universe works. Intellectual education acts as a base for us to follow our passions to achieve our goals and dreams , without intellectual education we would never live in this modern world. Albert Einstein said,"Education is not the learning of facts but the training of mind to think." But we just do not see this happening in our real life. The present system mainly focuses on learning of facts (especially in social science but not in literature), getting good grades and getting a good job, no one cares about whether the students are understanding or not(except some concerned people). So intellectual education should not only be sheer memorization of facts but also about understanding the facts.
2.EMOTIONAL EDUCATION: Intellectual education has produced many monsters; we can just recapitulate the history , and Hitler will be most appropriate example . Don't you think Hitler received factual education , don't you think he did not know how to distinguish between wrong and right, don't you think he knew the value of human lives. He knew all that but when we recollect history we begin to ask ourselves a question,"Where did his education go?". His education did not vanish but the important thing to remember is that he lacked emotional education, or( to be simple ) education of heart. If any person lacks emotional education then it tends to form a gap , gap in a sense is incompleteness; it is like a person knows the process to do something but he does not knows the impact of that process. History provides us all lot of evidences to prove that ,
like the decision made by three immature politicians destroyed Hiroshima as well as Nagasaki , they did receive intellectual education but emotional education was lacking in them. If they would have received emotional education then thousands of innocent people would not be killed , the people living those regions did not have anything with the war, they were living their lives normally, there was not any fault of the people, but they became victims of people who did not get educated emotionally. Thus emotional education is vital in everyone's life and we should not ignore it.
3.SPIRITUAL EDUCATION: I personally feel that supplying your soul with knowledge is very important . We all are children of the might power, who too exists as form of energy, soul to be precise . Our life revolves on materialistic things, we are happy because of materials, we might become become depressed because of materials, our desires are materialistic, we give our whole life for materials . But do we ever give any time or thought to the supreme power who looks after all ? No, we might give our time to worthless activities but not to God. Thus there is a need for all of us to give some time to God everyday. It might to difficult for some days but soon it will become a habit , and we all know that habits form our character,
We can thank the supreme power everyday for the life given to us, we should try to make connection with God, we can just think about the supreme soul or we can meditate and try to establish connection with God. In terms of spirituality we can just educate ourselves or we can also learn from religious preachers of any religion of your choice.
