Summary of A beautiful Mind

Although the movie by the same name has taken all the attention of people but, you should know that about 90% of the movie scenes were based on the book itself. So, if you have about some minutes to spare then I have here the synopsis of the book "A beautiful mind" from my point of view, so that you will get the essence of the book in relatively shorter time.

This book is about the life of an extraordinary genius, John Forbes Nash, well written by Sylvia Nasar, his life is so inspiring and touching, and his experiences and his intellect both are absolutely remarkable. So friends, I would not like to bore you with facts but there are some facts which are really important so I have included them anyway along with appreciating the philosophical aspects of  the book which you possibly would find appealing.

These are the things that "A Beautiful Mind" taught me, and I believe that these should help you too.
I read that Nash was a bright child, but most importantly he was extremely curious and mystery seeker; he liked solving problems very much, and not all problems he solved were mathematical. We see that he loved books more than he liked his friends, and apparently books did become his best friends, this was one of his trait that I really love about him. I have learnt that it is completely okay to be socially awkward, but in this world being social doesn't hurt, so this decision completely rests upon you, by the way being social has many plus points. Nash was very skeptic of attending classes because his philosophy was that attending classes would hamper his creativity and he would not be able to create his original patents as he would be exposed to the works of many other people.

It has never been mentioned in the book that he enjoyed with others, it has been written that he used to enjoy himself  immensely, he used to explore worlds of his own and was very particular about uplifting his choices and his image. Nash used to spend most of his time to think, although you might possibly not be able to do this due to your virtual world dependency, but do think while you sleep or before. And his trick to learn something new was by actually doing it, physically or mentally, it might sound very minor but try it, it does help. Nash was a very ambitious and self-confident person, he used to crave success and so in this process he converted himself into a complete workaholic. You need to take breaks from your work constantly, it increases your concentration in the work. Nash used to mostly live inside his head, I mean literally inside his mind all the times, he was always in this process of thinking and solving problems in his mind that if he was disturbed accidentally he would lose his cool completely, maybe due to this trait; he has been called a "thinking machine".

Perhaps it was this constant thinking and visualizing that turned him schizophrenic and he really lost his touch from reality, and he used to hear voices ordering him and giving him hints, he used to decode the newspapers(shown vividly even in the movie) thinking that the extra-terrestrials were sending him messages that only he had the power to decode.
He once rejected a prosperous job offer and when he was asked why he did so, he told that he was going to be crowned the emperor of Antarctica!
There wasn't a single day when he was not seen serious, he always had a scary slender face which quite revealed what he was doing. He would always be seen whispering to himself, or muttering constantly to himself. He was a mysterious man, but he was one of the most important mathematician of his time.
So these are the things that I came to know about and some which I applied in my life too. These is in a nutshell but if you would like to go deeper then you might want to purchase this book in a book-store near you.
